CT Farm to School Institute

Capturing the first year of a program built to grow.

A year-long professional learning program helping Connecticut school teams build stronger, more equitable farm-to-school programs.

Telling the story of Connecticut’s Farm to School Institute.

The CT Farm to School Institute is a year-long professional learning program that helps Connecticut school teams develop and strengthen their farm-to-school programs. We were brought in during the inaugural Institute to create a film that could capture the experience while clearly communicating how the program works and why it matters.

We interviewed school district participants who had already begun putting farm-to-school strategies into practice, along with program leaders and partners from organizations including UConn Extension and VT FEED. Their perspectives helped us tell a broader story about food, education, equity, and community, while footage from the retreat illustrated the Institute’s approach to coaching, action planning, hands-on learning, and the 3Cs model of Cafeteria, Classroom, and Community.

The result was more than an event recap: a resource that could show future school teams and partners what participation in the Institute looks like and help tell the story of a growing statewide program.

The Video

We felt honored to tell this story and  capture the hopeful, joyful energy of people working to make farm-to-school programs more accessible across Connecticut.
